Minutes of the Meeting of 17 February 2010. The meeting took place in the Court Room, Town and
County Building, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present
were Rick Atherton, Brian Chadwick, Michael Kopko, and Allen Reinhard. Patricia Roggeveen was
absent. Chairman Chadwick called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Chairman Chadwick announced that according to a recent online report, the County of Nantucket
has been chosen as the healthiest county in Massachusetts. The report ranks each state county by
county to find which areas have the healthiest residents and how long they live.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
OFFICIAL BUSINESS
Review/Approval of FY 2011 County Budget. Assistant Finance Director Irene Larivee reviewed the
FY 2011 County budget, noting that only the County Administration and Registry of Deeds are part
of the budget now that the Sheriff is part of the state. Ms. Larivee reviewed County revenue
sources, which include a Town assessment, deeds excise revenue, recording fees, and Cape and
Islands license plate sales. She said the FY 2011 projected revenue is $699,375, while projected
expenses which will have to meet the projected expenses, ultimately, are $882,165 which leaves
no money for projects such as bike path and road takings and other real estate issues.
At 6:13 PM Ms. Roggeveen joined the meeting.
After some discussion, Mr. Reinhard moved to approve the FY 2011 County budget; Mr. Kopko
seconded. All in favor, so voted.

None.
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:20 PM.
