The meeting took place in the Court Room, Town and County Building, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present were Rick Atherton, Brian Chadwick, Michael Kopko, Allen Reinhard, and Patricia Roggeveen. Chairman Chadwick called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. ANNOUNCEMENTS None. PUBLIC COMMENT None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES, WARRANTS AND PENDING CONTRACTS Approval of Minutes of 25 February 2009 at 6:00 PM. The minutes of 25 February 2009 at 6:00 PM were approved by the unanimous consent of the meeting. Approval of Payroll and Treasury Warrants for September, 2009. Chairman Chadwick noted an expenditure of $33,000 for a new SUV for the Sheriff on the Treasury Warrant. The payroll and treasury warrants for the month of September 2009 were approved by unanimous consent of the meeting. OFFICIAL BUSINESS Nantucket Dreamland Foundation: Request for Grant of Easement for Use of Public Sidewalks Located North and East of Oak Street and Easy Street from Old North Wharf to Broad Street Pursuant to Dreamland’s Open Space Requirements Imposed by MGL Chapter 91 for Waterways Licenses and Regulations of MA Department of Environmental Protection (Continued from 19 August 2009). Ms. Roggeveen recused herself from this agenda item. Attorney Bill Hunter representing the Nantucket Dreamland Foundation explained that he had submitted a written request formally withdrawing the Dreamland’s request for grant of easement. The County Commissioners acknowledged the withdrawal and no further action was taken. PUBLIC HEARINGS Request for Acceptance of Non-Exclusive Easements Granted by Richard E. Lewis, Jr. and Sylvia I. Lewis for Foot Passage Along Hiawasse Lane; Foot Passage Over the Pedestrian Access Easement Between the End of Hiawasse Lane And St. Mary’s Cemetery; and Roadway Access Over a Rounding Area at a Sharp Corner in Cato Lane. Mr. Atherton recused himself from this agenda item. Planning Director Andrew Vorce spoke in favor of the request for acceptance of easements for Hiawasse Lane, and reviewed the details of the request. Mr. Kopko moved approval; Mr. Reinhard seconded. All in favor, so voted. Request to Consider the Discontinuance of a Portion of a Certain Way Known as Nonantum Avenue Between Lovers Lane and to the Center of Harriet Street Formerly Known as Prospect Street as Shown on the “Plan for Discontinuance of a Portion of Nonantum Avenue Prepared for the Town of Nantucket in Nantucket, MA” Dated July 20, 2009, Prepared by Nantucket Surveyors LLC. Mr. Vorce spoke in favor of the request for discontinuance of a portion of Nonantum Avenue, noting that to construct a road in this area would be disruptive and unnecessary. He explained that the plan is to convey the residual piece of land to the Nantucket Land Bank or the Town of Nantucket. Mr. Kopko moved approval; Mr. Reinhard seconded. All in favor, so voted. COMMISSIONERS REPORTS/COMMENTS None. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:36 PM. Approved the 28th day of October, 2009.
