Minutes of the Meeting of 17 March 2008 at 10:30 AM. The meeting took place in the Town and
County Building, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present
were Brian Chadwick, Patricia Roggeveen, Whiting Willauer, Allen Reinhard and Michael Kopko.
Chairman Chadwick called the meeting to order at 10:35 AM.
Consideration of Supplemental Appropriations to Fiscal Year 2008 Sheriff’s Department Budget.
Assistant Town Manager Malachy Rice presented two potential budget amendments to the
Sheriff’s Department’s current budget: (1) $1 million to be used for the Town’s central dispatch
center; and (2) $4 million to be used for the construction of Nantucket’s Joint Public Safety Facility.
Mr. Kopko moved that the fiscal year 2008 Nantucket County Sheriff’s Department budget be
amended to include a supplemental appropriation of $1 million from the Sheriff’s Deeds Excise
Fund for the construction and capital equipping of a Public Safety Central Dispatch Center for the
Town of Nantucket pursuant to Chapter 64D, Section 1 of the General Laws of Massachusetts;
seconded by Mr. Reinhard. So voted unanimously.
Mr. Kopko then moved that the fiscal 2008 budget for the Nantucket County Sheriff’s Department
be amended to include a supplemental appropriation of $4 million from the Sheriff’s Deeds Excise
fund to provide funding to the Town of Nantucket for the construction of a Joint Public Safety
Facility pursuant to the purposes authorized under Chapter 64D, Section 1 of the General Laws of
Massachusetts; seconded by Mr. Reinhard. So voted unanimously.
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 10:40 AM.
