Minutes of the Meeting of 13 February 2008 at 6:00 PM. The meeting took place in the Town and
County Building, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present
were Brian Chadwick, Patricia Roggeveen, Whiting Willauer, Allen Reinhard and Michael Kopko.
Chairman Chadwick called the meeting to order at 6:02 PM, following a meeting of the Board of
Health.
APPROVAL OF WARRANTS
Approval of Pending Items from 23 January 2008 Treasury Warrant. The Treasury Warrant was
approved by unanimous consent of the meeting.
Request for Approval of Letter Regarding Pending Legislation in Connection with State/Sheriff
Takeover Proposal. The Commissioners discussed sending a letter regarding legislation pending
in the General Court that would implement a state takeover of County Sheriff Departments. Town
Counsel Paul DeRensis informed the Commissioners that the Nantucket has expressed opposition
to similar legislation in the past. Mr. DeRensis explained the contents of letters that had been
drafted to the Governor and state legislators opposing this legislation. By unanimous consent of
the meeting, the Commissioners agreed to continue the meeting until 9:30 a.m. Thursday,
February 14, 2008 to provide time for each of the Commissioners to read the letters.
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:14 PM.
