Minutes of the Meeting of 25 April 2007 at 6:00 PM. The meeting took place in the Court Room,
Town and County Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present were Brian
Chadwick, Michael Kopko, Allen Reinhard, Patricia Roggeveen and Whiting Willauer. Chairman
Kopko called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
Chairman Kopko announced that he would relinquish his position as Chairman of the Commission
and asked for candidates willing to so serve. Mr. Chadwick indicated his interest in doing so. The
Commission unanimously consented to appoint as Chairman Mr. Chadwick who conducted the
remainder of the meeting.
Announcements/Public Comment. None.
Approval of Minutes of 9 April 2007 at 12:00 PM, 4 April 2007 at 10:00 AM and 28 March 2007 at
6:00 PM. The Commission approved the minutes by unanimous consent.
Approval of Payroll and Treasury Warrants for April 2007. Chairman Chadwick reviewed a prior
hold on payment of four invoices from the Sheriff’s Department as voted at the Commission’s
March 28, 2007 meeting, noting that that he is now satisfied with processing payment. Mr. Kopko
moved to approve these for payment. Discussion followed on appropriateness of some of the bills
coming from the Sheriff’s Department Mr. Reinhard seconded. So voted unanimously.
Public Hearings
1. Public Hearing to Consider Altering the Layout of a Certain Way Known as Washing Pond
Road. Chairman Chadwick opened the public hearing. Planning Director Andrew Vorce spoke in
favor of the taking and recognized the abutters for their efforts. Attorney Steve Cohen, representing
the abutters, also spoke in favor. No one spoke in opposition. Mr. Reinhard provided additional
information, noting the Land Bank commitment to fund grading of the dirt section of the road.
Chairman Chadwick closed the public hearing. Mr. Kopko moved that the Nantucket County
Commission, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 82 of Massachusetts General Laws and
Sections 1.2 and 1.3 of the Nantucket County Charter, and having complied with all of the
preliminary requirements, and having determined that common convenience and necessity require
such, hereby adopt and approve the Resolution Regarding Damage Award and the Order of
Layout and taking of a certain way known as Washing Pond Road, as shown on a plan entitled
"Plan of Taking for the Nantucket County Commissioners of Washing Pond Road in Nantucket, MA
by Blackwell and Associates, Inc. and dated November 15, 2004.”
Mr. Willauer seconded. So voted unanimously.
County Administrator/Commissioner Reports. None.
The meeting adjourned at 6:15 PM.
