Minutes of the Meeting of 23 May 2007 at 6:00 PM. The meeting took place in the Court Room,
Town and County Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present were Brian
Chadwick, Michael Kopko, Allen Reinhard, Patricia Roggeveen and Whiting Willauer. Chairman
Chadwick called the meeting to order at 7:45 PM following a meeting of the Board of Health.
Announcements/Public Comment. Chairman Chadwick announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for
the Old South Road Bicycle Path at 2:00 PM on May 25, 2007 at the corner of Macy’s Lane and
Old South Road.
Approval of Minutes of 25 April 2007 at 6:00 PM and 25 April 2007 at 10:00 AM. The Commission
approved the minutes by unanimous consent.
Approval of Payroll and Treasury Warrants for May 2007. The Commission approved the warrants
by unanimous consent.
Citizen Request
Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum: Request for Conceptual Approval of Gift of Easement.
County Administrator C. Elizabeth Gibson introduced the matter, noting that the traffic safety
workgroup has endorsed the idea of the easement on Union Street, which would allow for an
increase in road area so as to increase the turning radius for large vehicles such as trucks, which
routinely hit the retaining wall on the museum’s property. Ms. Roggeveen noted the importance
also of safety for bicyclists. Mr. Kopko moved to approve the request in concept. Mr. Reinhard
seconded. So voted unanimously.
County Administrator/Commissioner Reports
Appointment of County Commission Representatives to Workgroups and Committees. The
Commission appointed Mr. Kopko as the County Commission representative to the Nantucket
Planning and Economic Development Commission and Mr. Reinhard as the County Commission
representative to Pilgrim Resource, Conservation and Development.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
