Topics: • By-Laws The Commission members requested a copy of our Commission’s by-laws. • Bamboo Supper Club Mickey and Linda met with Shannon Haddon, the owner of the Bamboo Supper Club, to survey the access options to the second level of his building. 1. Presently, the second level of the Bamboo Supper Club is not open to the public because there is no elevator or vertical lift access to the second level. The building inspector, Bernie Bartlett, closed that level for business. Shannon would like to have the second level open to the public and he plans to submit a variance proposal to the Architectural Access Board, sometime in the future, regarding the installation of a vertical lift. 2. After viewing the site, Mickey and Linda supports Shannon’s variance request if all services that are proposed for the second level must also be available on the accessible first level. Mickey stated that no private functions or entertainment could be provided on the second level exclusively. Linda mentioned that Tom Hopkins, director of the AAB, thinks that the AAB will vote favorably on this request. 3. Brenda suggested that Shannon provide an accessible parking space or spaces, along with the proper access aisle and signage as a condition of supporting this variance request. 4. Ellen motioned to support Shannon’s future variance request with all the above conditions, which Jeanette seconded and the Commission members voted unanimously in favor of this motion. • Election The election of officers was postponed until our next meeting because three Commission members’ terms were expiring at the end of June. • Pocket Park on Corner of Fair and Main Streets Linda showed the Commission a set of plans for the Land Bank’s, new, accessible park on the corner of Fair and Main Streets whose primary entrance will be on Main Street. However this is not an accessible entrance. The planned accessible entrance will be at the southeast corner of the park on Fair Street. There will be no parking on Fair Street from the corner of Main Street to beyond the accessible entrance. Linda motioned for the Commission to send a letter of support for this park, which was seconded and the Commission members voted unanimously in favor of this motion. • Dreamland Theater Mickey attended a Strategic Planning meeting at which the Dreamland Theater’s plans were introduced. The Dreamland will be completely wheelchair accessible from the main entrance and throughout the building. This includes elevator access and accessible restrooms. • Miacomet Golf course Jeanette mentioned that the pro shop is in a separate building from the restaurant and accessible restrooms. The pro shop has an inaccessible bathroom that is not supposed to be open to the public. However, the bathroom doubles as a public dressing room. Jeanette was wondering that since the bathroom/dressing room is open to the public, should it be accessible? Dick will look at the ramp to this building. • Other Jeanette mentioned that a Nantucket woman might be abusing her dead husband’s state, disabled parking permit. The Commission members requested a new member list. Dick mentioned that there is no curb cut on North Avenue at the Point Breeze Hotel. Dick motioned to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded and all voted in favor of the motion. Submitted by: Brenda McDonough, Facilitator GO SOX!!
