223970 Madaket Wastewater Treatment Facility & Collection System
Phase 1 - Preliminary Design Phase
Progress Last Month:
Surfside capacity assessment began to determine WWTF ‘s ability to treat future
demands.
This Month:
Meet with GSA/Surveyor on-Island to layout FAA property bounds/needs
Work with Town Administration on FAA site purchase
Schedule Projected completion date – December 31, 2012 (Unchanged)

Provide detailed DMRs and other operational data for use in the assessment of the
Surfside WWTF ‘s ability to treat future demands.

Draft contract for Nantucket Land Council in process for $50,000 share
Continued discussions with Health Director on Fertilizer Management program

Met with Andrew Vorce, Nantucket Planning and Economic Development Director, on
land use, multiple parcels and need to maintain WWTF capacity until Town-wide
Needs have been updated.
Working to develop existing/build out flows in Town Sewer District and
throughout all Needs Areas
Continued assisting BOH with Septic ACO
Developed Access Database for organizing ACO contracts
Worked with BOH staff with execution of first ACO
This Month:
Continue public outreach activities
Finalize flows and loads from updated needs/study areas
Continue working with Marine & Coastal Resources – Hummock Pond MEP
Complete scope for stormwater planning centered around MEP in Nantucket Harbor
Work with Marine & Coastal Resources and Division of Marine Fisheries on
stormwater
Work with SMAST on stormwater in MEP
Finalize summary on landfill
Review and evaluate summary on 2008 Sewer Act
Incorporate sewer priority list provisions with 2008 Sewer Act
Review and evaluate Pest House Pond and Monomoy pipe discharges into Nantucket
Harbor
Continue with CWMP Update report writing
Continue coordination with Sewer Planning Work Group
Prepare for and attend December 17th BOS/SPWG Workshop

Attended October 15th Neighborhood Meeting – project roll-out and construction
details discussed
Attended Street and Sidewalk Advisory Committee Meeting at DPW on October 18th
Completed field investigations and survey for the design.
Received approval to advertise the project from MassDEP
Met with CPO to finalize Town bidding requirements
This Month:
Advertise project in Central Register, Cape Cod Times and the Inquirer Mirror on
November 21st for bid opening day of December 12th
Final Plans and specifications available on Town’s website
Continue coordination with the DPW and Wannacomet Water Company
representatives.
Preparing Probable Construction Cost Estimate for portions of additional work
requested by the Streets and Sidewalks Advisory Committee.
Submit “request to award” package to MassDEP after December 12th bid opening
