223970 Madaket Wastewater Treatment Facility & Collection System
Phase 1 - Preliminary Design Phase
Progress Last Month:
Continued work with Madaket site surveys:
Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program
Massachusetts Historical Commission
Under Madaket Amendment No. 1 continued assessment of Madaket force-main
options and ability of Surfside WWTP to accept Madaket sewer flows. Currently
assessing alternative routes and identification of construction challenges and
estimated costs for each proposed route.
This Month:
Continue under Madaket Amendment No. 1 assessing alternative routes and
identification of construction challenges for each proposed route.
Continue work with Madaket site surveys – Massachusetts Historical Commission
(PAL). Awaiting scope and budget for botanist oversight as required by NHESP.

Progress Last Month:
Meeting with MassDEP On-Island: CWMP Update scope and budget review, WWTF
tour; MassDEP PAC issued June 27, 2012.
Presented CWMP Contract to Board of Selectmen for approval at Selectmen’s
meeting June 27, 2012.
Met with BOH – ACO draft finalization
Attended BOH Meeting on Article 68 – Fertilizer Plan Adoption
Assisted Town Manager and staff prepare a CWMP Citizens’ Advisory group
solicitation. BOS approved formation of this committee at Selectmen’s meeting June
27, 2012.

o Develop summer associations/ civic groups/ environmental, etc. organizations meeting
schedule/assign presenters/prepare agendas
Execute SMAST contract – Sesechacha Pond 303(d) removal (CWMP Update
approved budget)

225140 Phase IIB Sewer Rehabilitation Project
Progress Last Month:
Presented Phase IIB Contract before to the Board of Selectmen for approval at the
Selectmen’s June 27, 2012 meeting.
This Month:
Finalizing subconsulting contracts with Blackwell & Associates Inc. for survey update
and Sarian Company, Inc. (DBE/W) for construction resident observation.
Receipt of additional aerial and topographic information for Westminster Ave, Fair
Street, Hussey Street and India Street.
Conduct field investigations.
Design and preparation of draft plans and specifications.
Meet, as required, with Street and Sidewalk Committee.

Financial Budget - $921,700 Spent - $21,000

Organize Street and Sidewalk Committee and hold initial meeting and conduct on-site
walking tour.

Island taxpayer, civic and association meetings.
What to look for this month:
Phase IIB survey work along Fair Street, Westminster Ave., Hussey St. and India St.
CWMP Update work to begin with BOH records review and attendance at summer meetings of
taxpayers, civic and association meetings.
Additional Services
Met with Town at Surfside WWTF to discuss staffing, administrative, and operational
objectives. Developed an approach to assist DPW Director with Surfside/Siasconset
operations and plant facilities challenges.
