My wife and I have a house at 96 Baxter Road and are fully supportive of the proposed plan before the town of
Nantucket to protect the Sconset bluff, both for this winter with geotubes and on a more permanent basis. We
are supportive of the public-private partnership. Although our house is on the west side of Baxter, the situation
currently is so tenuous in our area that any serious storm this winter could permanently damage the road south of
us.
Therefore, we were extremely pleased to have the Board of Selectmen’s approval for the project for geotube
installation along the toe of the Sconset bluff at the most threatened sections. Our thanks go out to the Board of
Selectmen. We hope, with your continued support, that the Conservation Commission will understand the
urgency needed for approval. Any delay puts Baxter Road, as we know it, at risk. Action can be taken now to
prevent home owners from being denied access to their homes and/or services provided by the Town of
Nantucket.
I ask the Board of Selectmen to both fully support this construction project and understand that I am committed to
also supporting any process that has to overcome any impediments to timely resolution of the approval process.
