Sand Template Work Report
Baxter Road and Siasconset Bluff Stabilization Project
Author: Chris Humphrey
Date: January 16, 2018
Proposed Template Action:
(Re-grade and/or Replenish)
Regrade to restore template on the face of the tubes.
Cause for Template Work:
(Storm, Periodic Maintenance,
etc.)
Maintenance following a minor storm.
Pre-Work/Storm Template
Condition:
(Describe condition of ramps,
ends, and face of geotubes. Prior
to work, attach photographs from
the 6 photo locations and
template measurements.)
The southern ramp was accessible. The northern ramp was
inaccessible. Approximately 900 feet of the face of the second-tier
and 50 feet of the third-tier tubes were exposed.
Template Work Description:
(Provide dates of work, length of
template re-graded, volume of
sand added, etc. After work is
completed, attach photographs
from the 6 photo locations and
template measurements.)
Template maintenance work was completed on January 16, 2018.
All tubes were covered. Based on previous surveys, it is estimated
that approximately 6” of the template depth on the top of the tube
structure was lost over a distance of approximately 900 LF as a result
of grading.
If the template work is being done in response to a storm that does not require a separate “Major
Storm Report,” please fill out the following sections.
Storm Date:

Template loss: Using geometric calculations based on the dimensions of the exposed
geotubes, it is estimated that approximately 2.0 cy/linear feet of sand
was contributed from the structure during the storm (950 LF x 2.0 cy
= 1900 cy).
Adjacent Bluff Loss:
Approximately 1’ of bluff to the north and 2’ of bluff to the south of
the project was lost.
Estimated Beach Level in Front of
the Seaward Geotextile Tube:
Bottom of the second geotube (approximately +/- 7.5 MLW
Location(s) of Exposed
Geotextile
Entire length of the second tier.
Need for Repair? None.
Condition of Ends/ Observations
of Flanking?
None.
Proposed Template Action (Re-
grade and/or Replenish)
Regrade and rebuild northern ramp.

Sand Template Work Report
Baxter Road and Siasconset Bluff Stabilization Project
Author: Chris Humphrey
Date: April 11, 2018 (this report presents re-grading activities during the
month of March)
Proposed Template Action:
(Re-grade and/or Replenish)
Regrade to restore template on the face of the tubes.
Cause for Template Work:
(Storm, Periodic Maintenance,
etc.)
Maintenance following 3/13/18 major storm and 3/21/18 minor
storm.
Pre-Work/Storm Template
Condition:
(Describe condition of ramps,
ends, and face of geotubes. Prior
to work, attach photographs from
the 6 photo locations and
template measurements.)
The southern ramp was inaccessible. The northern ramp was
accessible. Approximately 350’ of the second-tier tubes and 200’ of
the third-tier tubes on the north end of the tube structure. The
southern end of the structure was covered following maintenance
conducted on March 26, 2018.
Template Work Description:
(Provide dates of work, length of
template re-graded, volume of
sand added, etc. After work is
completed, attach photographs
from the 6 photo locations and
template measurements.)
Template maintenance work was completed on April 11, 2018. All
tubes were covered. Based on previous surveys, it is estimated that
approximately 1’ of the template depth on the top of the tube
structure was lost over the entire length of the tube structure as a
result of grading performed on 3/26/18 and 4/11/18.
There were four storms during the month of March 2018 on
approximately the following dates: March 3, March 8, March 13,
and March 21-22.
The first storm occurred on March 3. The March 3 storm
was a major storm and a separate Post-Storm Report was
submitted. During this storm, the template sand was
available and an additional ~2500 cy of sand was available
at the southern end of the project.
The beach was not accessible by regrading equipment
between the March 3 and the second March storm on March
8, so no regrading occurred.
Sand was delivered on March 12-16. This sand was on the
top of the bluff when the March 13 storm occurred.
2
A third storm occurred on March 13. The March 13 storm
was a major storm and a separate Post-Storm report was
submitted.
Partial template regrading occurred on March 16-20
(photographs of this regrading effort are included in this
report). The northern ramp was rebuilt and the northern
return was covered; the southern return and approximately
550-feet of the southern portion of the geotubes was
covered.
A fourth storm occurred on March 21-22. Template
maintenance commenced on March 26 and was completed
on April 11 (photographs of this regrading effort are included
in this report).
If the template work is being done in response to a storm that does not require a separate “Major
Storm Report,” please fill out the following sections.
Storm Date:

Template loss: Using geometric calculations based on the dimensions of the exposed
geotubes, it is estimated that approximately 2.0 cy/linear feet of sand
was contributed from the structure during the storm (550 LF x 2.0 cy
= 1100 cy). The loss was from the face of the second-tier tubes on
the southern end that were covered following maintenance
conducted on March 20, 2018.
Adjacent Bluff Loss:
