I am writing on behalf of myself and my wife Martha Dippell in strongly supportingthe revetment proposal to save the"Sconset Bluff and Baxter road". We are residentsat 92 Baxter and share wonderful summers here with our four children. I thought Iwas prudent in purchasing a house and property on the non-bluff side of Baxternearly ten years ago. Every indication of erosion tables showed that I would not bein jeopardy of losing my investment for several generations or maybe ever. This past May 8th and 9th, I watched first hand, the demolition of the beautiful BluffHouse which was directly across the street from my house. What an utterlydevastating, horrible sight to observe. During the summer I see literally thousandsof people walking, biking, jogging, sightseeing in tour buses, driving in their vehiclesdown Baxter Road towards the beloved Sankaty lighthouse. They all love to see thebeautiful sights of the ocean and the picturesque views of the moors to the west. Iventure to say that this is one of the most heavily traveled sightseeing destinationson the island. The revetment proposal represents a legitimate chance to help save this awfulerosion dilemma. It will safeguard additional homes from extinction or moving away, protect property values to ensure tax revenue for the town, eliminate the need toclose Baxter Road and the accompanying costly obligations to the town. This is awonderful community that needs to pull together in times of need , not try to tear itdown. Throughout history, communities across the country would jump at thechance to help when needed. If a house was burning, the people were inevitablythere to support. Let's invoke that spirit here. Sconset has had such an interestingand important history for hundreds of years. Let's not show the thousands andthousands of visitors who travel here that we don't give a damn. Please support the revetment proposal. It is thoughtful, privately funded, and willnot harm the neighboring communities. Respectfully, Danny Korengold
