I have been spendingsummers in Sconset since the mid-1980s and purchased land on Baxter Road (thankfully the "dry side")and built a small house at (70 Baxter) about a dozen years ago. My family and I believe we are goodneighbors and strive to support local merchants and craftsmen whenever we can. Sconset has becomean important part of our lives and hopefully will continue to be in the decades ahead. While I have an obvious self-interest as a Baxter Road resident, I also believe that any objective analysisof the situation would lead one to conclude that the proposed revetment, undertaken with littleeconomic cost to local taxpayers, is a very low-risk way to learn about potential erosion abatement thatcould come to benefit the entire Island. It may work, or it may not; but we will all benefit from thelearnings from the process. Moreover, inasmuch as hundred of revetments are in place already on Cape Cod and over 1,600 on theMassachusetts shoreline, it is not like the advocates for this project are suggesting some untriedtechnology. To me, it also appears that the projects safeguards address the concerns posed fordowndraft beaches. I hope you will support the thoughtful efforts of the Sconset Beach Preservation Fund. Should you findit helpful, I would be happy to discuss this further with you at your convenience. I may be reached at415-519-9474. Thank you for your consideration. Yours truly, David Golden
