Land Bank Conference Room
In attendance: Kate Hamilton, Director, Kevin Dugan, Assistant Administrator,
Charles Balas, Diane Reis-Flaherty, Gene Mahon, Louise Swift and Linda Williams.
Gene called the meeting to order at 3:05pm.
Kate announced that the fireworks will be held Saturday July 4th at 9:00pm at
Jetties Beach. She further explained that the Town will be paying for them this year from
the Town budget as well as the Cape & Islands license plate fund. We will also have July
6th as an additional rain date if necessary.
Charles then asked about the rooms tax and stated that Mitch Carl had sent out an
e-mail regarding information about how the tax may be configured. Gene and Charles
both stated that nothing will be decided here on Nantucket unless and until a Special
Town Meeting is held. Whether or not Nantucket Visitor Services would get a percentage
of any potential increase in the rooms tax remains to be seen.
Kate also noted that she will be issuing press releases for the September restaurant
week in an effort to promote lodging opportunities.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:55pm.
