HomeMy WebLinkAboutVisitor Services and Information Advisory Committee Minutes May 12, 2011_201402041408011134Minutes of Visitor Services Advisory Committee May 12, 2011 Nantucket Land Bank Conference Room In attendance: Kate Hamilton, Director, David Sharpe, Office Administrator, Diane Reis-Flaherty, Louise Swift. and Linda Williams Kate called the meeting to order at 3:22 pm. David updated the committee on the May statistics. Daffodil was successful and better than last year. T&L requests were up too. Kate reviewed the budget and the office in on track. Kate brought up the request of Bobby DaCosta to keep the 25 Federal Street restrooms open until 10:00 PM. Kate will look into the extra costs. She has concerns regarding vandalism during the 9-10 PM period. Kate Reviewed the Wine Fest. The Lodging availability was up from last year. Kate asked Jimmy Manchester for a list of activities for the Fourth of July. Kate also explained that she still had not been spoken to by Town Adminstration about taking on more responsibility. Jimmy will oversee and manage all the Fourth of July events this year. Kate will disseminate the information. Kate went over Staffing for the summer. She is two down but is waiting to hear from two employees who were restructured and let go. The office will be closed until Memorial Day. Visitor Services, in bad weather, will make sure to get the Lodging list to Police and boats. Kate attended a parking seminar put on by ReMain Nantucket. There was consensus that a direct shuttle would help employees. They suggested paid parking with a kiosk. Kate also went over the “Tip of the Week” white board now begun at Visitor Services with the Staff. David will tweet it also. Kate congratulated Gene Mahon about winning the “Build a Better Mouse Trap Award.” The meeting was adjourned at 4 PM.
