HomeMy WebLinkAboutVisitor Services and Information Advisory Committee Minutes March 17, 2011_201402041408003634Minutes of Visitor Services Advisory Committee Thursday, March 17, 2011 Land Bank Conference Room In attendance: Kate Hamilton, Director, David Sharpe, Office Administrator, Gene Mahon, Chairman, Diane Reis-Flaherty and Louise Swift Gene called the meeting to order at 3:07pm. Kate immediately spoke about the Rooms Tax and gave an update. Kate explained that the upcoming FY12 budget is set at $298,790. The next item on the agenda was the Statistics update. David read the figures for February. The numbers were firm, but there were many days in which the winds cancelled boats, etc… The Restaurant Association was the next agenda item. Kate reported that David had sent e-mails to Angela Raynor who has become interim head of the newly reformed Restaurant Association. Angela has not replied back. Gene suggested contacting Marshall Thompson. Fireworks Thank You ad and Update was the fifth item on the agenda. Kate reported that she is very pleased with the outcome of the fundraising. There is a thank you ad going into the newspaper. The ad thanks both the people who assisted in the campaign and also the many people who donated. Kate also reported that she is having a conference call with the fireworks company on Monday. A timeline that includes permitting deadlines, arrivals, showtimes, etc…has been created to help keep this year’s show on track. The sixth item on the agenda is the Main Street 4th of July Events. Kate reported she had a meeting with Gregg Tivnan last week. Libby and Gregg want Visitor Services to shadow Park and Recreation Director, Jimmy Manchester during the event this year. It is expected that all parties will sit down in the fall and work out a more detailed plan for 2012. Diane reported that she heard NVS would be doing the Friday Night Movies. Kate said that no one has talked or told her she would be responsible for the Friday Night movies. She will attend future meetings regarding these plans. Staffing was next on the agenda. Kate reported that the Town will allow 10 information aides this year, but will not give any more money. Kate reported that the Annual Town meeting will start on Monday, April 4 at 6:00pm at the High School auditorium. Gene adjourned the meeting at 3:57pm.
