Minutes
Meeting: Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 3:00 PM Town Hall Conference Room

1) RPF:
Kara talked about the $100,000 that was authorized at the April 2011 Town
Meeting. She noted that the money would be available after the end of this fiscal year
because it is not part of the operating budget.
John presented some information about the treatment that the DPW had
historically done, where the treatments had been done and with what chemicals. He
noted that Diane Holdgate is a member of the New England Mosquito Control Assn.
Helene had spoken with Diane O’Neil, Chief Procurement Officer about putting
out an RFP for treatment. She will be able to assist us with putting it out but will need
about a month lead time.
John will talk to Sarah Oktay to see if she might have information for the RFP
specifications. Kara and John will define the locations for treatment. Ken noted that
Wauwinet, Quidnet and Polpis are anticipating being treated as well as the areas that have
been Madaket, Hulbert Ave and Lily Pond.
2) Legislation:
Kara noted that Libby had e-mailed Town Counsel about the previous discussion
with Tim Madden about the Home Rule petition and if accepting MGL Chapter 252
would do what we wanted. She will follow up with Libby and Town Counsel for
direction.
Charlie will check to see if House bill 3814 of 1967 was enacted. This includes
Nantucket in the Mosquito Control Board.
Kara will also check with Libby to put a placeholder on the warrant for accepting
MGL Chapter 252 if that is the way we choose to go.
Next meeting will be to go over bid specs for April award and the warrant.
We will ask Gabby if she could meet with us in early February and the land
groups in late February.
The agenda will remain as the above 2 items.
The minutes from the last meeting November 28, 2011 were approved.
Next meeting is January 9, 2012 at 3pm in the Town Hall conference room.
