Tim Madden. The group asked him about presenting legislation regarding Mosquito Control for Nantucket. Tim provided insight into the mechanics of the process. He noted that it could be a very long time for it to get through, if it gets through at all within the current session. It may need to be filed multiple times, because if a bill does not pass it must be filed again in the next session. He suggested that we may want to go another route that does not require state legislative action. He also suggested pursuing this through the County Commissioners. Detailed discussion of a variety of options ensued. Richard noted that there has been discussion at the state level about adding tick control to this type of legislation. Libby will contact town counsel to ask their input on how to proceed with the legislative options that were discussed. Sarah agreed to become a member of the group and will contact Gabby Sakolsky of Cape Cod Mosquito Control Program to ask her to attend our next meeting. John contacted Cormac Collier and Jim Lentowski to meet with us. They agreed to meet with us. We will meet with them when we have more info about the Request for Proposal (RFP) and the locations that need to be treated. The group agreed to move forward on 2 parallel paths. One group, Kara, Charlie and Ken will pursue legislation. The second group, Helene, Sarah and John will pursue putting together an RFP to do mosquito control this spring. The minutes from the last meeting November 14, 2011 were approved. Respectfully Submitted, Kara H. Buzanoski
