Meeting: Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 3:30 PM Town Hall Conference Room
Attending: Libby Gibson, Town Manager
Richard Ray, Health Agent

Ken Giles, Madaket Homeowners Association
Helene Weld, BOH Appointee
Not in Attendance: Charlie Stott
Libby introduced several questions to be reviewed: Nantucket Mosquito Control
Legislation, private property issues, identifying breeding areas, expenditure of FY12
$100,000 and allocation of $100,000 in FY 13. Discussion ensued. It was agreed that
focus should be in Madaket, Brant Point and Wauwinet.
Discussion of legislation:
Richard will contact Gabby Sakolsky of Cape Cod Mosquito Control Program for
legislation, regulations and guidance. He will ask her to attend a meeting.
Libby will contact Rep. Tim Madden to ask him to introduce the legislation and
shepherd it through the process
John will contact Cormac Collier and Jim Lentowski to see what the interest
levels of the conservation foundations are. He will ask them to meet with us.
Ken will contact Sarah Oktay from the Conservation Commission to ask her to
come to meet with us about mosquitoes. Richard noted that under their Nuisance
Regulations, the Board of Health can step in if there is a documented public health
emergency such as Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).
Helene will contact Sam Telford MD regarding his work sampling ticks and
mosquitoes for Lyme’s Disease and EEE.
Kara will work with Richard to put PSA announcements on the Town’s website.
After meeting with Gaby, we will work with Diane O’Neil to put out an RPF for
spraying this spring.
