III. Public Information Session with the DPW and possible discussion in regard to proposed
road and sidewalk work on upper Main Street
Robert McNeil, DPW Director, Town of Nantucket; presented scope of work to be performed on Upper Main
Street.
Questions and comments by public made during informational session.
Michael May- Concerned about using new materials under the cobblestones. He'd like to see "tried and true"
materials and techniques for resetting the cobblestones back down. Also concerned about losing the current
walkways across the street with old stones. He feels they are character defining of the street. He'd prefer that the
current crosswalks remain, as they are a part of the street.
Angus Mcleod- Also concerned with removing the current crosswalks. He feels the current crosswalks bring
texture and should remain.
Michael May- Most visitors don't even know what the current crosswalks even are. Asked if there is community
support, in regards, to waivers from the state for the walkways.
Milton Rowland- All requests for waivers go through the local commission on disability. Stated he is the
chairman of the local commission on disability. He feels the state takes the side of the local commission most
of the time when making decisions
IV. Adjournment
