2006 SPECIAL TOWN MEETING 2006
The following is a summary of the articles called, and the vote taken by the
2006 Special Town Meeting held at Nantucket High School, Mary P. Walker
Auditorium, 10 Surfside Road on October 23, 2006. There were 410
registered voters in attendance. A Quorum of 399 voters (5% of 7957
Registered Voters) was needed for Article 17.
Monday, October 23 – Meeting called to order at 7:12 PM.
A quorum was reached at 8:07 PM, with 402 voters.

Article 2: Zoning: Establishment of New Commercial Districts (Called by
Goss) Main Motion as printed in the Warrant, with Technical Correction,
adopted by Declared 2/3 Majority Voice Vote.

Handcount Vote: YES – 227; NO – 110; 2/3 = 225. The Vote was challenged,
citing possible confusion about who was counting whom. Town Counsel
advised the Moderator to refer the matter to the Town Clerk in order for her
to confer with theTellers. It was determined that there was no confusion,
citing that there had been no problems with the previous handcount votes.
The count was declared to stand.
The Moderator recognized BOS Chairman Whitey Willauer for the purposes
of moving dissolution of the 2006 Special Town Meeting. It was moved,
and seconded. A Voice Vote was taken.
The 2006 Special Town Meeting was dissolved at 9:56 PM, by Unanimous
Voice Vote.
Winning tickets for the Glamorous Door prizes (gift baskets of Movie DVD’s
and popcorn) were drawn by Chairman Willauer, and Town Counsel.
