Minutes from the July 8, 2014 meeting were tabled.
Election of Officers:
A motion was made by Ms. Finger to nominate Ms. Timmermann, president; and Mr. Kuester, vice
president and Mr. May as secretary. The motion was seconded by Mr. May and approved 4-0 with Mr.
Gallagher abstaining.
A discussion regarding the NHC role and the MASS DOT letter ensued. It was generally agreed that Ms.
Timmermann should go forward with the draft letter outlining the recommendations of the NHC --to
retain the rural character and questioning the need for 3 foot shoulders and reflectors.
The NHC will determine the next step regarding the in town bike path. Ms. Timmermann will contact the
MHC to determine the proper way to address/share the NHC letter with the proper parties. It was
generally agreed that the original letter should be attached to a new letter, and the new letter summarizing
the NHC position and concern that the National Landmark status and the significance of the historic
resource were not given priority in the planning process and that this importance aspect should be
paramount.
