Present: Phil Gallagher, Kevin Kuester, Caroline Ellis, Deborah Timmerman
Absent: Jascin L. Finger, Diane Coombs, Susan Handy

Agenda was unanimously approved with the addition of other business/commissioner comments at the
end of the agenda
Kuester motioned to hold Minutes from October 24, 2013 for review approved unanimously
Public Comment-none
CPC/NHC
The relationship of the Historical Commission and the CPC was discussed.
Ellis-We are not a member but should be according to the rules of the CPC
Kuester -It is town counsels opinion that the HDC has jurisdiction over exterior architectural
features not preservation.
May- HDC workload is an issue
Kuester- Suggest we request town counsel meet with us to discuss our role and how we best
work with other boards. There presently is a void when it comes to preservation , how can we
begin to fill it.
Brief discussion on demolition delay and demolition by neglect and the lack of enforcement.
Suggestion this be discussed with town counsel-Kuester
Other business
Ellis- Have asked Mark Voigt for a list of restrictions that the town holds.
Timmerman- Will forward Mass Historical brochure on the differences between historical
commissions and historic district commissions.
Kuester- Presented an outline of the Design Advisory Workgroup. The workgroup goals and
objectives were discussed. Kuester explained The Design Advisory Workgroup is an advisory
resource of the Nantucket Historical Commission providing recommendations on the design and
Historic appropriateness of elements under the purview of the town of Nantucket, within the
streetscapes on Nantucket.
Town Manager has requested the commission oversee this workgroup.
Timmerman -made a motion that the commission approve and oversee this workgroup as
requested. Motion was unanimously approved
Next Meeting- Timmerman suggested November 21st at 5:30, 4 Fairgrounds and will reserve the room
Motion to adjourn at approximately 7:15, unanimously approved
