The minutes of 06/28/2016 were approved. VDCI – E. Hibbard reported having a summer intern had been extremely helpful in that it allowed them to cover more acreage as well as to discover new breeding areas. 5,289 mosquitoes were collected following the unusually heavy rainfall in early July compared to 1,008 during the same week in 2015. One adult female Psorophora ciliate mosquito was discovered in Tom Nevers. This is a southern floodwater species, and it is the first time one has been found on Nantucket. A total of 327 acres have been treated. Medouie Creek data including species identified will be shared with Nantucket Conservation Foundation in order to provide recommendations for areas to be treated and marsh management practices. VDCI will have a table with educational materials at the Nantucket Count Fair as will the Board of Health. August Workshop – C. Stott initiated discussion and review of the long and short term goals covered in the August Workshop meeting. A. Erisman suggested distributing a survey/questionnaire to landscapers as a way to educate them about what their clients should and should not do with respect to mosquito control. It was agreed that a similar survey be sent to homeowners in the spring. Emergency Response Protocol: The state DPH allows individual towns and counties to determine criteria that trigger emergency response action. It was suggested we contact other mosquito control groups to learn what protocol standards they are using. Old Business : None New Business : It was suggested that we meet during the winter months to continue discussion of long term goals. E. Hibbard noted that weekly reports are difficult to create because the state required formatting is so different from that of VDCI. Public Comment: None Adjournment – there being no further business to consider, a motion was adopted to adjourn.
