Minutes of June 28, 2016 Meeting

Commissioners present: Charles Stott, Helene Weld, Mark Palmer and Tim Lepore, MD
State Reclamation Board Staff: Absent
Vector Disease Control International: Emily Hibbard, Cristina Flores
Nantucket DPW, BOH Staff: Absent
Members of the Public: None
Chairman Stott called the meeting to order at 3:35 PM.
The minutes of 04/26/2016 and 05/24/2016 were approved.
Election of Vice Chair: T. Lepore proposed Ashley Erisman as Vice Chair; Mark Palmer seconded
and Ashley was unanimously elected as Vice Chair.
VDCI – E. Hibbard reported that as part of the research agreement with Nantucket
Conservation Foundation ( NCF ), summer intern, Will McGuirk, will be conducting a full survey
of all NCF properties.
BOH educational brochures printed in both English and Spanish are being distributed.
To date, due to the very dry weather the mosquito count has been low and for the same
reason, containers have not been an issue. Testing will be resumed with the approaching new
moon.
145 acres have been treated including a new area near the animal hospital between Cliff Road
and Low Beach.
SRB Update: Katherine McAuliffe is no longer with SRB. We received the 2015 SRB Annual
Report, which did not include data submitted by VDCI for Nantucket.
Draft of OpEd: Proposed article on Mosquito Facts was approved for submission in the local
newspaper Inquirer and Mirror.
Next meeting: Chairman Stott will poll commissioners and staff to determine a date for a
workshop.
Old Business: None
New Business: E. Hibbard noted that the DPH is conducting a pilot project providing free testing
– she will inquire as to status of this project. Nantucket data would then become part of the
state system.
