Minutes
Meeting: Monday, February 6, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Town Hall Conference Room

1) RPF:
We reviewed the data in the RFP and discussed it. John will meet with Diane
O’Neil to discuss it with her prior to issuing the bid. Kara will contact Nathan Porter, the
GIS specialist to prepare the maps.
Sarah noted that Gabi has indicated to her that an EPA permit is required for
larvaecide application.
Committee members have talked to large property owners (mostly non-profits).
Ernie Steinauer at Mass Audubon stated: they will allow testing, but treating is unknown
at this time.
Bruce Perry at the Land Bank stated: they will allow testing, but treating is
unknown at this time.
Jim Lentowski at the Conservation Foundation stated: they will allow testing, but
treating is unknown at this time.
Cormac Collier at the Land Council stated that they don’t own the properties,
mostly just easements so we have to go to the individual property owners.
Ken Lindsay at Madaket Land Trust stated: they will allow testing, but treating is
will required action of the Board.
Helene will contact Steve Nicolle or Diane Lange at the Trustees of the
Reservation.
Charlie asked about doing treatment on private property. This was discussed. It
was agreed that if the applicator could get permission to enter private property that would
be preferable, but this year we may only be able to treat public property.
2) Legislation:
Kara noted that the article prepared for Town Counsel is on the Annual Town
Meeting warrant for March 31, 2012. The Committee discussed the cost per thousand
that will be put in the article and how much it would generate. Kara will contact Libby to
add this to the article.
The Nantucket Civic League will be sponsoring a Mosquito forum on May 23.
Sarah will provide more information as it develops. Gabi will come to a meeting in
March. Next meeting will be to go over the RFP.
The minutes from the last meeting January 23, 2012 were approved.
Meeting was adjourned at 3:50 pm.
Next meeting is February 21, 2012 at 3pm in the Town Hall conference room.
