Vote on minutes from 2/26/15- Michelle motions, John seconds, all in favor 2. on-going discussion: a. review response from Mass dept of agriculture- Michelle has contacted representative who can come out and meet with us. Learned that a senate bill in process gives Ag commissions some control over Health department regulations. b. review response from health department regarding the keeping of animals- Campbell said: Health department was unaware Ag Com was working on the regulations, Richard Ray will present our suggestions to his board. There is a 3 week public comment period. Rewriting of the law was inspired by complaints about roosters. Patty looked into last month's animal complaints. there were 3 for roosters. Campbell- suggests putting it in the newspaper. (Public comment period) c. discuss response from Dylan Wallace RE- proposed updates: All agree we like his comments. Agree that smell is a problem. d. Q= contacting other livestock owners for feedback?? If so discuss format and approach: Michelle suggests using email list from the fair or put notice up at elections. Maybe get a newspaper article written? Get educational/informational materials about raising chickens? 3. open discussion: How to get the word out about needing new members? Patty will talk to Catherine Stover. 4. discussion of future objectives-should we reduce to 5 members and put it in town meeting? Find different time/place for the meetings. 5. set agenda for next meeting: a. Vote on minutes from 2/26/15 & 4/9/15 mtgs b. On-going Discussion Keeping of Animals Regulations -- postponed to next regular meeting c. Open Discussion Meet with Pete Westover from Massachusetts Agricultural Department with lead-in by Michelle Whelan d. Discussion of future Objectives Set agenda for next meeting e.
