Nantucket Cottage Hospital 57 Prospect Street Self Documentation: Master Sign Plan and illustrations. Representing. David Kelly, Cannon Design; John Twohig, Nantucket Cottage Hospital; Greg O'Brien, Nantucket Cottage Hospital Public: None. General Discussion: John Twohig- Reviewed the changes requested at the last meeting: Vehicular height on the freestanding sign and show all three layouts on the master plan, reflective paint options, pedestrian direction orientation signs, reduced the number of other freestanding signs by mounting them, took logo off, the address, width of the signs. David Kelly- Discussed the requests/concerns made at the last SAC Meeting September 18, 2018. Lowered the three directional signs to height of 5 feet; lettering, recommend an applied reflective lettering versus down -lighting. Lowered the site orientation signs to 4'9" and did not angle. Need to adhere to DPH requirements. SAC discussed alternatives to reflective lettering and other lighting options. Reflective paint changed to applied reflective lettering is the issue and not accepted under the guidelines. The consensus is that reflective lettering is not appropriate. In agreement that the color of post, cap and frames should match the building which is platinum gray (color 1-1). The freestanding signs (the two VHl signs) should replicate the existing signs with a wrought iron scroll bracket on top and securing the bottom from movement. SAC Would prefer Entrance Hours to be larger and Tobacco Free and Gun Free to be smaller. David Kelly- does not know if there are specific requirements for letter size in regulatory signage SAC Site orientation signs: would like posts/cap/arms grey and frame painted platinum grey. Any exposed wood on any of the signs platinum grey. David Kelly- the main hospital entrance must be identified along with Emergency to maintain traffic control otherwise will create confusion. Will check on different types of reflectivity. Page 2 of 4 Approved Minutes October 02, 2018, adopted October 30,2018 2. Vote: Carried unanimously. 6. Nantucket Cottage Hosp. 57 Prospect Street Free standing sign-VH2 55/3 John Twohig VH 2- directional sign on prospect. Reflective lettering still a concern. John Twohig stated that to run power out to the sign would be an expensive undertaking and would not be able to turn off. Concern for neighbors. The SAC would like to omit the lower panel and just see "emergency" and reduce the height and would like a lit sign versus reflective lettering. Noting the airport entry sign as an example. Motion to Hold VH2 Sign Location #2 for Revisions. Made by Paul Wolf; seconded by Mark Cutone Vote: Carried unanimously.
