Tuesday September 18, 2018
I. Procedural Business
Call to order at 9:00 am.
Attending members: Chris Young, Kevin Kuester and Paul Wolf
Staff in attendance: John Hedden, HDC Compliance Coordinator
Absent members: None.
Late arrivals: Mark Cutone at 9:20 am.
Early Departures: Kevin Kuester at 9:37 am and Mark Cutone at 10:36 am.
Motion to Adopt Agenda made by Paul Wolf; Seconded by Kevin Kuester.

Concerns: Kuester - concerned of height of freestanding signs being 6 feet tall. Thinks if would be more
appropriate if they were 4 feet tall.
Normand- asks if directory sign could be less tall and perhaps angled for easier viewing purposes.
Discussion of lighting signs.
John Twohig- Some of the signs must conform to certain codes in regard to lettering size and sign
size.
David Kelly- The signs will have reflective lettering.

The SAC discussed alternatives to reflective lettering and other lighting options. The consensus is
that reflective lettering is not appropriate.
Young- Summarizing Council's concerns. Overall everything looks to be off to an appropriate
start. Agrees with Council that freestanding signs should be reduced in height. Feels the
freestanding signs should match the existing signs. Something should be done for the campus
direction signs such as lowering them and angling them as pointed out by Normand. Other options
should be explored for lighting instead of having the reflective lettering

1. Enforcement.
Discussed enforcement with Nantucket Island Resorts.
Representing: Mike Duffy, Nantucket Island Resorts; Greg Farrington, Nantucket Island
Resorts.
Mike Duffy- We are here to go over violations we received over the summer. We're trying
to work with all our tenants to make sure they know they need to apply for signs.
Greg Farrington- Perhaps a walk -through town with the SAC would be a good thing and
informative for us. We want to work the best we can with SAC.
Young- Feels a walk -through town with NIR would be beneficial. Hopefully we can set
that up in the future.
