Nine people were in attendance. Co -Chair Laura Steele facilitated the meeting. The meeting began by honoring Heidi Fee for her prior service as SNAC chair, Minutes from the 10119/17 meeting were reviewed and approved through a vote of members who attended that meeting. The group worked on creating a draft mission statement as follows: "The SNAC is organized to empower parents, school staff and community Professionals to collaborate in a positive decision making process to plan and implement educational programs for students with special needs. The SNAC will support, guide, advocate, advise and educate parents, Nantucket schools, and the community on the rights and needs of children with disabilities and their families," . A discussion regarding the bylaws will be postponed until the next meeting until such time as the SNAC officers can meet to create a preliminary draft for review, It was decided to not have a December family social gathering as well as to cancel the originally scheduled 12120117 meeting of the SNAC given its close proximity to the holidays. The group is interested in having a Basic Rights workshop presented by the Federation for Children With Special Needs. Michele will reach out to the FCSN to check on possible dates and Lora will reach out to Gennifer of Autism Speaks about providing childcare. - Other items discussed were the addition of SNAC meetings to the NPS digital calendar. Michele will reach out to Logan about this. Georgie shared a Flyer of upcoming events sponsored by Fairwinds.
