Ib was voted to write a letter to Mr. Thurlow Barnes ~equesting him to meet
with the Board concerning Article 42g. ~
SPECIAL POLICE · ·
It was voted to appoint Michael Davis as Special Police for the Dreamland
Theater. ~
It was voted to allow Mr. Robert Jones to attend a conference on dispos~al
of solid wastes on May 13, 1970.

The meeting Was called to Order by. Chairman Hol~gate at 8:00 p.m. with'
· Messrs. Whelden, Haley, Lowell, and Small present.
~' The minutes Of the meeting of April 22, 1970 were read and a~proved~
Warrant #17 in the amount ~f $52,228.21 was approved by?the Board.
SOFTBALL FIELD
Augie Ramos '~ue~ti~ne~ 'the righbs ~f ~a gro~ to drink beer while playing
softball on Town property. It was voted to discuss this matter further in ex-
ecutive session.

Bids were received for two vehicles for the-D~.~.W.~,from Albert L. silva,
Inc. for $6,962.00 and Island Motors, Inc. for $7,570.00. It was vo.ted to award
the bid to the lowest bidder, Albert L. Silva, Inc. i bid was received f~6m~
Albe~t L. Stackpole for the concessions at Surfside and Children%s Beach.' This
bid was awarded to Mr. stackpole. A bid was received from Penetryn system for
cleaning and sealing of sanitary sewers. This bid was awarded to the Penetryn. ,
System. Bids ~ere received from Walter F. Glowacki a~d NantUcket Construction
Co. for Union Street repairs. It was voted to take t%~se bids under advisement
., before making a decision. A bid was received from John Santos
,~' " Bridge, Sconset for $1o,448.o0. This bid was awarded to John Santos'& Son'.

A certificate Of appreciation was received from the Boy Scouts of America.

A phone call was received from Rep. Arthur Desrocher stating the Committee'
had received favorable comment on the Historic District Commission bill, which
will be voted'on tomorrow."
LODGING HOUSE LICENSE REQUEST '~
A request was received from William Fegan of 8 Westminster street for
Y~?~i- renewal of his lodging house license. This was approved subject to. inspection.
TAXI LICENSES
Requests were received from Lawrence Ayers, Eugene F. Burgess,` and Marie T.
Thurston for-renewal Of their taxi licenses. These were approved.

and Don Allen Auto Service,~ inc~.~ ~Both requests Were ~p~ved.
The Redmen requested permission to sell beer on t~e~'n~E~t of May 2nd and
to hang a banner on Main Street. Both requests were approved.'
SLOW SIGN
~A letter was received from Mrs. Peter Crosland requesting a "S10w" Sign and
more ~street lights on Hooper Farm Road. The sign was referred to the D.P'~W.

'A letter was r'eceived from Mr. Michel Butyn requesting information on seg~-
ing up a table stand to sell leather goods. It was voted to write him a letter
stating it was not a policy of the Board to let anyone sell items on the' streets
of the Town and for him to contact Sherburne Associates and the steamship Author.

It was voted to accept the resignation of David Murray from the Airport

A copy of the lease purchase agreement was received from the Airport
~C0mmission.
A note was received from Mr. Robert Jones stating that he had~received per-
mission from Richard Colgate to open Sesachacha Pond. This is to be done about
the middle of May.
D.P.W. RADIO EQUIPMENT
After careful analysis of the bids from Motorola & G.E.,
award the bid to Motorola for $5,757.00.

A form was received from John F. X. Dav0ren, Corporation Division, State
House for the Selectmen to sign approving a Corporation entitled 5~The Whaling
and Marine-Manuscript Archives, Inc., 93 Main Street. This was aPProVed and
signed by the Board.
