Mr. Kopko asks for any concerns from the public. None noted.
Variance Request
1. 12 Tennessee Avenue — HO Ray explains that the applicant is requesting relief
from Title 5 and from local regulations affecting Madaket. The applicant is
requesting distance regulations be varied to allow for the repair of a septic system
abutting Hither Creek.
HO Ray recommends approving the variance subject to the use of an alternative
designed septic system with a signed maintenance agreement for the life of the
system.
BOH approves the variance request unanimously (4 -0).
Tier 3 Sanitary Surveys for 9 Local Beaches
HO Ray discusses the Health Department's waiver request from Massachusetts DPH
concerning an exemption from the weekly testing of 9 local beaches as recommended by
the state DPH. These particular beaches have shown no elevated bacteria counts for three
consecutive years and are now eligible for the diminished sampling schedule of once
every 30 days. The Health Department had previously tested Surfside (2 sections), Sewer
Beds Beach, Miacomet, Madaket, Warren's Landing, Washing Pond, Cliffside and Jetties
Beach weekly.
BOH approves the waiver request unanimously (4 -0).
Health Department Update
HO Ray reminds the public that mosquito season is upon us. Please walk your property
and discard any accumulated water to prevent mosquito breeding. HO Ray has also
requested that Park and Recreation personnel remove and discard old, unused tires on
property in Tom Nevers.
Concerns from the Board. None noted.
BOH adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
