HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-6-28BOARD OF HEALTH TOWN OF NANTUCKET MINUTES — June 28, 2006 NANTUCKET SUPERIOR COURTROOM MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Willauer, Mr. Glowacki, Mr. Chadwick, Mr. Kopko and Mr. Bennett MEMBERS ABSENT: None. Chairman Willauer calls the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Chairman Willauer asks for public comment/concerns. Residents of Brant Point and some Cliff Road area residents express concerns about mosquitoes. Some residents ask for spraying, others are against spraying. HO Ray discusses the town's concern about mosquitoes, discusses the heavy spring rain, and what homeowner's can do to protect themselves and their properties. The town is reluctant to spray due to the fact there have been no health risks at this point in time (no EEE or WNV threat to humans). Jeff Willett, DPW, discusses the DPW's role in treatment of mosquitoes since April. AGENDA Health Officers Update 1. Update on emergency preparedness specifically concerning hurricanes. HO Ray discusses the department's local emergency preparedness measures and how residents can be prepared. 2. Overcrowding issues; seasonal inspections; licensed and unlicensed businesses. 3. New septic system booklets available at the Health Department. 4. Contract agreement with Nantucket Cottage Hospital for public health services. 5. Beach testing. The meeting is adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
