AGENDA a
Variance Requests
1. 17 Oklahoma Ave. — This is a property in Madaket with a boat house on it with a
functioning septic system. Septic system will be relocated further away from
Hither Creek. HO Ray recommends granting variance using an alternative design
system with a signed maintenance agreement in place renewed annually for the
life of the system.
Motion to grant variance with stipulation approved unanimously.
2. 6 Washington Ave. — current septic system does not comply with Title V and
needs to be upgraded. HO Ray recommends granting the variance to upgrade this
septic system. This upgrade meets maximum feasible compliance on the
property.
Motion to grant variance approved unanimously.
3. 84 Cliff Rd. — Lot is serviced by town water and septic system has a leach pit.
Owners are asking for waiver to install a new leach pit due to the fact that leach
trenches will not fit on lot configuration due to separation of ground water
concerns. Owners are meeting maximum feasible compliance. HO Ray
recommends granting variance.
Motion to grant variance approved unanimously.
4. 50 Arkansas Ave. (Tristam's Landing) — Upon Title V inspection, existing septic
system is found to be non -code compliant. Owners are requesting set back and
property line variances. Abutters' wells are within the 150' Madaket requirement.
Property owner has met maximum feasible compliance. HO Ray recommends
granting variance.
Motion to grant variance approved unanimously.
5. Nitrogen Loading Aggregation Plant — Nantucket Housing Authority Property in
Surfside — HO Ray recommends preliminary approval for DEP submission with
stipulations (record of deed be filed, keeping land in natural state and use of a re-
circulating sand filter system with maintenance agreement in place for the life of
the system).
Motion to grant variance request with stipulations approved unanimously.
