Called to order at 10:33 p.m. Staff in attendance: Terry Norton, Minutes Taker

1. Consue Springs no- parking sign

Gasbarro – no parking sign is missing and needs to be replaced.

2. Milk Street and Quaker Lane intersection

Pittman – Stop sign on Milk Street by Joy Street needs to be moved closer to Prospect Street;
its set too far back from the intersection

Originally set back to allow trucks to make that turn without cars in the way.
Action
Have DPW move sign and line closer to Prospect Street.
3. 77 Hummock Pond Road

Presentation MacDougall – At 77 Hummock Pond Road, an olive tree is growing into road and needs to be
cut back.

4. Ocean Avenue parking issue update

Presentation Gardner — Regarding Ocean Ave. — did Chief Pittman meet with residents of Sconset
Public None
Discussion Pittman — Have not had a chance to look at it, ` Sconset people not anxious to jump on board,
but they need to represent themselves. Afraid it will hurt the business.
Gardner — met Nabulsi on Ocean Ave, suggest installing a split rail fence on the ocean side of
Ocean Ave. and move yellow (no parking) line over to in front of the houses.
Mooney — Need to talk to ConCom because within coastal bank if want to put up split rail. It is
in the minutes from a prior meeting. Will contact Mark Donato /president of Sconset Civic
Assn to invite to a future TSWG meeting.
Action Put on a future agenda item
The minutes of September 7, 2011 and October 13, 2011 were approved by the unanimous consent of the
work group.
1. Request for yellow line /no parking on Mt. Vernon Street near intersection of Milk Street

Discussion Pittman/McDougall — Existing yellow line already in place; needs to be repainted and
extended to 20 feet of the intersection.
Action Yellow line to be repainted and extended to required 20 feet length.
2. Request for yellow line /no parking at 59 Easton Street
Documentation Letter from Nantucket Yacht Club with photos; GIS map of location
Presentation None

Discussion Pittman — applicant wants yellow line extended past the gateway to block parking in front of
the building. Looking at photos and having done a site visit see no reason for request. Just
takes away parking.
Action Recommend to deny the request.

1. Discussion regarding Backus Lane opening to First Way
Documentation Email from Transportation Planner; superintendent "Coffee" Minutes of October 20, 2011
Presentation Mooney — Talked about this in October. School is also talking about this.

Discussion Pittman — In the past traffic safety recommended opening it but it needs to be part of a larger
project.
Nabulsi — Planning Board talked about it and paving First Way; would improve traffic along
the area and provide additional parking.
Gasbarro — Legal impediment in terms of an easy fix. Nantucket Ice and Backus own some of
abutting land.
Pittman — The school is the catalyst to push this through.
Action TSWG in favor of opening up Backus Lane to First Way; next step is Planning and Roads and
Right of Way Committee; TSWG to offer comments when at design stage.
