a. Variance Request from Brotherhood of Thieves: from 1999 Food Code:
Section 4-301.12 -Manual Warewashing, Sink Compartment Requirements.
This request was withdrawn by the Brotherhood as many other
establishments have already installed their sinks in order to comply with
the New Food Code.
b. Establish hearing date for the adoption of the 1999 Federal Food Code
including the State Sanitary Code-105 CMR 590.00 as Local Code. (Will
Allow Health Officers to issue fines as defined in MGL Chapter 40,
Subsection 41 D -non-criminal disposition). The Federal Food Code has
Been adopted by the State of Massachusetts.
After discussion, it is agreed upon that this issue will be put before the
Board in its next meeting in February or March.
c. Discussion of potential heard date for Local Body Art Regulations. (tattoo
and body piercing.)
HO Ray explains that theState has approved Tattoo Parlors as legal in
Massachusetts, giving local authorities leeway to prepare their own
regulations. Many towns are now in the process, or have already
established regulations and Nantucket must also do so.
HO Ray sites his desire to discourage illicit operations of such facilities,
and to encourage sanitary conditions, etc.
Again, this issue will be put before the B.O.H. in one it its next meetings.
