MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: APP: 7:30 p.m.
1. CONCERNS FROM THE PUBLIC and/or the BOARD: None noted.
2. NEW BUSINESS
a. Request for Public Hearing: Proposed regulations i.e. Inspection of Septic
Systems within the Harbor Watershed Protection District. HO Ray indicates a GIS
Map denoting the Harbor Watershed Protection District in red. This district has
been divided into two zones. Zone A is from the shoreline up to 1000 ft. Back and
Zone B being the remaining area in red. HO Ray is recommending that all of the
Septic Systems within Zone A will have 18 months to have their system inspected
and a repair schedule set up if that system is failed. We are proposing that in Zone
B, because it is less critical to the Harbor, that the Home Owners must have their
Systems inspected within twenty-four months and upgraded if need be. This is
being done to help improve water quality in Nantucket Harbor. Some older
systems may be causing pollution problems in the Harbor, and this something that
we need to find out. I am asking for August 29th as a Public Hearing date.
