NANTUCKET MEMORIAL AIRPORT COMMISSION
Executive Session
August 31, 2011
The meeting took place in the SRE Building at 13 New South Rd.
Following a roll call vote, Executive Session was called to order at 12:49 p.m. by Chairman E. Foley Vaughan to discuss the
deployment of security personnel or devices, or strategies with respect thereto.
Also present were Airport Manager Al Peterson, Airfield Supervisor Jeff Marks, Finance Director Tina Smith, Administrative
Assistant to the Airport Manager Janine Torres, and Administrative Coordinator Yolanda Taylor.
Mr. Peterson reported a GA ramp incident took place when Bruce King used a tow bar on an aircraft's grease fittings instead
of the tow pins causing damage to the aircraft. After speaking with Mr. King's immediate supervisors about Mr. King's overall
performance in Operations, Mr. Peterson offered Mr. King a change in position or disciplinary action. The position offered will
place Mr. King in front of the terminal to monitor traffic and assist with parking lost issues. It will be under the supervision of
the Security Director, Bob Tallman. Mr. Peterson also stated this change in position has been reviewed by the Union's
representative Tim Mahoney.
Mr. King has opted to move over to the new Security /Parking lot position.
Commissioner Gray stated this better not be in retaliation due to Mr. King speaking up at meetings
Commissioner Gasbarro asked in response to a public comment a few weeks ago on the security outside the main terminal
and parking coverage is the Airport only relying on the Officer on duty or do we have our own coverage. Mr. Peterson
responded Mr. King will be working on weekends and this will help the situation.
Commissioner Gray stated there was an incident over the weekend regarding the parking lot and the gentleman was very
upset. Debra Crooks was on duty and could not reach the Officer on duty for help. Mr. Peterson stated Mr. King will be there
to help with any situation that comes up like this in the future.
It was MISIP to adjourn at 1:00 PM
