Leddy, Jr., Chairman BOARD OF APPEALS NANTUCKET BOARD OF APPEALS M 1984 Case No. Q,1 -Q- ~~ B S M Distributors, Inc. , of Nantucket, represented by Robert E. Campbell, petitioned the Board for relief under Section 71 of the Zoning By-Law. B s; M are purchasing the land and buildings at 3 Newtown ~ , A1~ Nantucket, presently owned by John VierQ., who has his residence on the ~~ property and conducts a masonry business from the premises as a prior existing non-conforming use. The property contains a 3-bay garage with additional storage space approximately 80' x 28'. Up to now, the masonry business has been conducted on the property with masonry supplies stored on the property. B S M Distributors operate a bread, pastry, potato chip, and Pepsi distributorship and are the main suppliers on the Island. Lawson Billings, president of B ~ M, plans to live in the residence and operate his business, using the garage for inside storage of the pro- ducts, which operation would be less detrimental to the existing non- conforming masonry business. There were no individual or correspondence objecting to the petition. Ronald DaSilva of Newtown Road and ~ ~-~~ manager of the First Nations Store, spoke in favor~f the petition. ~T~1C~C._i/,__ a ~4.6 cam. ems ,~,,/.s 1917 c.+ `'`'~"7 By unanimous vote, he Boa"rd ~oted~permif "~'s; ~11 to operate its /f~~ business on the property ~ der Section 71 of the Zoning By-Law on the grounds that the proposed business change was less detrimental to the neighborhood than the present use; also because there would be interior storage and that the existing 6' solid wood fence surrounding the property would be maintained.
