DECISION:
At a meeting of the BOARD OF APPEALS held
Friday, November 19, 1982, in the Town and
County Building, in the matter of the appli-
cation of IDWARD G. SLADE (028-82), the
BOARD finds:
1. This is an application to extend and alter a pre-
existing, non-conforming garage structure by creating an
upper story room in the garage and constructing a breeze-
way between the garage and principal dwelling situate at
Beach and Bank Streets, Siasconset, Massachusetts.
2. Based on review of the application, supporting
documents and testimony at Public Hearing, the BOARD finds
that the subject garage has existed prior to the enactment
of the Nantucket Zoning By-Law and the proposed expansion
will not be more substantially detrimental to the neighbor-
hood than the existing non-conforming garage use.
3. For the reasons set forth, the BOARD hereby
grants the applicant a Special Permit for the proposed
garage expansion in accordance with Section 71(1) of the
Zoning By-Law which shall specifically include relief
from Section 5(3) side lot line restrictions and Section
5(1) ground cover ratio restrictions, on the express
condition that the proposed garage not be used for
cooking and sleeping purposes, by unanimous vote.

by constructing a breezeway between garage and dwelling
