MOOlli.:Y, ChairJ1'lan ~;NJTUCKFT BOAP!) OF APPEALS BOARD OF APPEALS Nantucket, Massachusetts At a meeting of the BOARD OP APPEALS held Friday, February 26, 1982, at the Town and County Building, Nantucket, in the matter of the application of NANTUCKET BUILDING COMPANY (05-82), after due deliberation, tbe Board found: 1. This is an application under SECTION 4-B, PERMITTED USES, of the Zoning By-Law to permit the conversion of an old dwelling house at 66 Orange Street, formerly the Steve Ryder House, into a two-family dwelling in a district zoned RESIDEN~IAL/OLD HISTORIC. 2. The Applicant acquired the subject property last year after it had been condemned for human habitation by the Town, having alIen into disrepair and decrepi- tude due to lack of plumbing and other social amenities. The Application seeks to restore and refurbish the house, which has some past history as a two-family establishment, by including two kitchens and thus achieving an economical as well as aesthetically pleas- ing result. It is a large house in an era of small families. The Board finds this to he a unique situation wherein an abandoned property may be profitably restroed to social utility and hopefully alleviate the year- round housing shortage without detriment to the neigh- borhood, within the purpo!;c: and intent of the By-Law. 3. For the reasons set forth, the application for relief to permit the restoration of the premises at 66 Orange Street to a two-family house ~s Granted by unanimous vote, with the condition that the Applicant provide on-premises parki fHJ for at ](,;l:u;t~ thrC'(~ (3) vehicles on the property, day and night. ~~c:..."<-':"'-..3~~ R07\rm nF 7\PPF:l\T,S Go \ \.~ \ I..,\~ ~~ ~'. \.~ ~""'-. ~~ , ' ___ ______.___:.._ -_____,_,_ -l-- --, --- .
