'~ BOARD OF APPEALS
Nantucket, Massachusetts
DECISION:
At a regular meeting of the BOARD OF APPEALS held
Friday, April 10, 1981, at 3:00 p.m, in the Town and
County Building, in the matter of the application of
SANDRA CRANSTnN (Oll-81), after due deliberation, the
Board found:
1. This is an application for a Special Permit to
operate a neighborhood handicraft shop in a building on
Park Lane in Siasconset. The operation would involve the
sale and demonstration of materials f_or knitting and
crocheting, bobbling, and weaving,, which are not only
traditional but highly regarded pasttimes in Nantucket,
involving no heavy traffic and no souvenir hunters. The
Planning Board registered approval and the operation was
found to be in keeping with Siasconset tradition.
2. The Board finds the establishment may be
operated as a neighborhood service establishment under
the provisions of Section 4-B-2-a of the $y-I,aw, and
that such operation will be in conformity with the
general purpose and. intent of the By-Law, provided,
however, that such use shall be subject to annual review
of the Board of Appeals as to its conformity to the
By-Law.
3. For the reasons set fortYi, the Board grants
the application for a Special Permit to operate a
neighborhood service establishment for a period of one
year, subject to annual review by the Board, for
premises at Park Lane in Siasconset, by unanimous vote.
