A Public Hearing of the NANTUCKET ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS will
be held at 1:00 P.M., FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 1998, in the CONFERENCE ROOM,
in the Town Annex Building, 37 Washington Street, Nantucket,
Massachusetts, on the Application of the following:
ESTATE OF ROSELENA A. JOHNSEN, OWNER, EDWARD FOLEY VAUGHAN, EXECUTOR,
AND FOR THE NANTUCKET LIGHTSHIP BASKET MUSEUM, INC., CONTRACT
PURCHASER
BOARD OF APPEALS FILE N0. 059-98
Applicant (NLBM) is seeking a SPECIAL PERMIT under Nantucket
Zoning By-Law §139-18B(2), to waive one (1) parking space. In addition
and/or in the alternative and to the extent necessary, Applicants are
seeking a VARIANCE under By-Law §139-18 (parking requirements) waiving
any parking spaces that may be required above that. Applicant proposes
to convert the 966+ square-foot 1 1/2 story single-family dwelling to
a museum with museum shop, with 966+ square feet of public assembly
space, 966+ square feet of second-floor ancillary storage space and
260+ square feet of new addition, to be constructed onto the rear of
the existing structure. There will be less than three (3) employees on
site at peak shift. The existing garage structure would be removed from
the site and a parking area with five (5) spaces would be constructed
on the southerly side of the property.
In addition, Applicant is seeking a SPECIAL PERMIT under
Nantucket Zoning By-Law §139-20C to waive the on-site loading zone
requirement.
The Premises is located at 49 UNION STREET, Assessor's Map
55.1.4, Pareel 31, Plan Book 11, Page 42. The property is zoned
Residential-Old-Historic.
