At a regular meeting of the :f:"nl1RD OF APPF.JIIS, held Friday, ~.ay 23,
1980, at 3: 00 P.M. at the 'IU'N AND CCUNTY BUIJ.nTIJ.G, in the matter
of the application of EENEST TRIPP, ET OX (013-80), after due
deliberation, the Board fourrl:
1. This is an application far a Special Pend t to allOYl construc-
tion arrl coperation of a greenhouse on property on Cherry Street
in larrl now zoned. Residential 1. 'Ihe property n<::1tl consists of a
heterogenL=>Qus mix of multi-residential , private stable, am
miscellaneous storage facilities. It is prq:x:>sed that the stable
and barn be discontinued and a creenhouse be constructErl.
2. 'l'he interrled use is for operation of a greenhouse to supply the
neEils of Sherburne Associates for its ccrnrercial enterprises wi th-
out, h~=ver, making retail sales to t..'he public. The greenhouse
itself will te 60 I x 44' am will te suffici.ently laooscaped to
enh:mce the neig}-lborhocd. It is apparent that the present use of
the proper tv is a non-ronforming use in a residential area in that
va['i()\~c:; t:usiness activities have ~ conCuctec1 on the property
for It1.<my vears. The Board, after consideration of the evidence
anj the proposed use, has determined that. the s-reenhouse will be
us,ed for the private purposes of the cwnersi furtherrrore, its
construction am operation will not te !rore detrirrental to the
nejohl:orhocil tl-1an the present USE! of the property.
3. 'I'herefore, t.l1e S[ecial Pennit for construction am operation
of a pri vate ~rreenhouse on the property on Cherry Street, recorded
in Dt~ B<x>k 111, Pac;re 363, am Deed Book no, Page 510, is
granted \'l:i th the conci tion that no retail or public sales shall
be made fran this locat:ion, by t.manimous vote of the Board.

A Public Hearing of the BOARD OF APPEALS will be held
on FRIDAY, MAY 16, 1980, at 3:00 P.M., at the TOWN
AND COUNTY BUILDING, BROAD AND FEDERAL STPEETS, NANTUCKET,
MASS., on the petition of ERNEST AND CATHERINE TRIPP for
a Special Permit or Variance under Section 4A and 4B of
the Zoning By-Law to allow construction and operation
of a greenhouse on property presently used as multi-
residential, private stable, and miscellaneous storage
facilities. The premises are located on the corner of
Pleasant and Cherry Streets and are zoned RESIDENTIAL 1.
