BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
The Minutes of the meeting of Thursday, November 30, 1989 at 4:30 PM. The
'meeting took place in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town & County Building,
Nantucket, MA 02554. All members of the Board were present. Chairman
Sevrens called the meeting to order at 4:34 PM.
Request to Authorize Preparation of a Change Order to the Sewer Treatment
!P1ant Contract, for Pavement of 200' Section of South Shore Road as Access
to Surfs ide Sewer Treatment Plant: Mr. Viera read DPW Superintendent Jeff
Willett's memo with this request. Chairman Sevrens questioned the funding.
Mr. Willett explained that it was not part of the bid (outside scope of
: construction), stating that Change Order funds are available in the allocation
ibut ineligible for reimbursement or another possibility is to encumber
jfunds from road improvements (DPW) fund. Mr. Grossman questioned how long
lit would take to put the project out to bid. Mr. Willett stated 3 or 4
iweeks, explaining that preparation work should be done now. Mr. Willett
liestimated $40,000 if bid, stating that the State could disallow if done
,as a Change Order. Mr. McLaughlin felt that an answer should first be
!obtained form the State regarding this issue. Mr. Bourgoin stated that
Ithe State allowed up to 5% on Change Orders. Mr. McLaughlin moved authorizing
Ipreparation of a Change Order but holding on approval until the State okays
a Change Order. Seconded by Mr. Viera. So voted.

There being no further business before the Board, the Board voted unanimously
to adjourn at 4:44 PM to reopen as the Board of Selectmen.
