HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-01-27 II BOARD OF HEALTH Minutes of the Meeting of 27 January 1993 at 7:30 PM. The meeting took place in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present were Wayne Holmes, Arthur Desrocher, Carl Borchert, Nancy Sevrens and Timothy Madden. Chairman Holmes called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Approval of Minutes of 16 December 1992 at 7:30 PM. Mr. Desrocher moved approval; seconded by Mrs. Sevrens. So voted. Request to Establish $10 for Temporary Food Service Facility. Health Officer Richard Ray explained that it has come to the attention of state and local Boards of Health that mobile food operations and one day food booths have gone unlicensed throughout the Commonwealth causing problems with regard to foodborne illness at temporary food service facilities. Health Officer Ray explained that the Food and Drug Administration, and the Department of Public Health is recommending further regulation of these types of food service operations. Health Officer Ray concluded by summarizing the guidelines and permit processing procedure the Health Department has established. Mr. Madden expressed concerns regarding the guidelines and some discussion followed regarding this issue. Chairman Holmes reminded the Board that the guidelines have been at issue, as they are already in place, but it is the request to establish a $10.00 fee that is before the Board. Mr. Madden reiterated his position that a fee should not be considered until the guidelines have been reviewed further. Health Officer Ray affirmed that the guidelines are taken directly from the food service code at the state level. Mrs. Sevrens moved adoption of a $10.00 temporary food service facility fee; seconded by Mr. Borchert. Curtis Barnes, member of the Board of Health Advisory Committee, spoke in favor of the fee adoption and some further discussion ensued regarding the purpose of the license fee. So voted. Mr. Madden and Mr. Desrocher were opposed. It was agreed to further discuss the guidelines at the next Board of Health Advisory Committee meeting. Request to Set Public Hearing Date of February 18. 1993 for Purposes of Amending Board of Health Regulation #60.00 (Minimum Lot Size for Unsewered Lots). Mr. Desrocher moved approval to hold a Public Hearing on February 18, 1993 at 4:30 PM to consider amending Board of Health Regulation #60.00; seconded by Mr. Madden. Mr. Borchert explained the proposed amendments. So voted.
