HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-02-05 BOARD OF HEALTH Minutes of the Meeting of 5 February 1992 at 7:30 PM. The meeting took place in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present were: Wayne Holmes, Nancy Sevrens, Carl Borchert and Bernard Grossman. Diane Coombs was absent. Vice-Chairman Borchert, acting as Chairman, called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Approval of Minutes of November 6. 1991 at 7:30 PM. Mrs. Sevrens moved approval, with the reading to be waived; seconded by Mr. Holmes. So voted. Reauest for Approval of septic System for Three Lot Subdivision- -Off South Shore Road. Mrs. Sevrens read a memo from the Health Officer recommending approval. Mr. Holmes moved approval; seconded by Mr. Grossman. Request for Approval of septic System for Two Lot Commercial Subdivision--Sun Island Road. Mrs. Sevrens read a memo from the Health Officer recommending approval, with the condition that of the two lots, lot 51, so-called, be limited to 500 gallons per day for total daily flow. Mr. Holmes moved approval as recommended; seconded by Mr. Grossman. So voted. Reauest for Approval of Septic System for certain Lots of Eiqht Lot Subdivision--Off Sheep Pond Road. Mrs. Sevrens read a memo from the Health Officer recommending that two of the lots are unacceptable for septic systems and that all lots must be re-perced prior to definitive septic system placement. Mr. Grossman moved to defer this matter until an updated septic system design plan is submitted; seconded by Mr. Holmes. Other Business. Mrs. Sevrens read letter from the Health Officer regarding the presence of a small area of uncovered asbestos in the boiler room of the Town Building. Mr. Borchert asked how the situation could be rectified expediently. Health Officer Richard Ray explained that the Town Building does contain asbestos in small percentages, and that the building is safe as long as certain precautions are taken. Mr. Ray added that the building is also tested every year. Mr. Ray further stated that he, as Health Officer, may also act as an Abatement Official in this matter and perform the necessary repairs, which he will commence as soon as he has obtained the proper materials.
