HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-05-02 BOARD OF HEALTH/BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS Minutes of the Meeting of 22 May 1991 at 7:30 PM. The meeting took place in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present were: Chairman Diane Coombs, Bernard Grossman, Nancy Sevrens, Carl Borchert and Wayne Holmes. Chairman Coombs called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Ap'Proval of Minutes of March 6, 1991 at 7:30 PM. Mrs. Sevrens moved, approval with the reading to be waived; seconded by Mr. Grossman. So voted. Mr. Holmes abstained from the vote. Mrs. Ginger Heard of the civic League was present to give a "civic Salute" to someone who had shown exceptional community service. Mrs. Heard spoke on the criteria by which the civic League chooses a recipient for the award and announced that this year the person was Mr. Roger Young. Mrs. Betty Glendinning presented a plaque tol Mr. Young. Mr. Young thanked the civic League, the Board ofl Selectmen and Mr. Edouard Stackpole. Presentation bv Planninq commission on In-Town Bikepath Routes andl Siqnaqe. Mr. Brian Wiese of the Planning Commission, explained a proposal for in-town bikepath routes and signage. Mr. Wiese said that most of the routes would not be formal bikepaths but suggested bike routes which could be delineated on maps and marked with signs. Mr. Wiese further stated that there was one area along Mill Hill Park which, if graded and hardened, could be a functional bikepath. Mrs. Sevrens moved to instruct the D.P.W. to place signs as indicated by Mr. Wiese's plan and to grade and harden the area that he described; seconded by Mr. Borchert. All in favor. So voted. Subdivision Request for William Larrabee on Ruqqed Road. Mrs. Sevrens read a letter from Health Officer Richard Ray recommending that with regard to the above subdivision, that Lot #1 be found acceptable for septic system design. Mr. Holmes moved approval as recommended; seconded by Mr. Borchert. All in favor. So voted. variance Request for Relief from Board of Health Madaket Requlations for an Existinq Dwellinq for Michael Holland/Robert Leichter on Mississippi Ave. Mrs. Sevrens read a letter from Mr. Ray recommending that the above variance be granted with the stipulation that the structure will not exceed its present three bedroom capacity. Mr. Borchert expressed concern that the stipulation be placed on the septic system design plan. Mr. Holmes moved approval as recommended, with the stipulation to be placed on the septic system design plan; seconded by Mr. Grossman. All in favor. So voted.
