BOARD OF HEALTH/BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
The Minutes of the Meeting of August 1, 1990 at 7:30 PM. The
Meeting was held in the Board of Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town
and County Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. All members of the
Board were present. Chairman Grossman called the meeting to
order at 7:32 PM.
Approval of the Minutes of July 11. 1990 at 7: 30 PM; also of
Julv 18. 1990 at 7:30 PM. Ms. Coombs moved approval; seconded
by Mrs. Sevrens. So voted. Reading of the Minutes was waived.
Establishment of Public Hearino Date for Adoption of Appeals
Procedure as Amendment to Landfill User Fee Regulations. The
Board noted the memo submitted by the DPW Superintendent dated
July 27, 1990. DPW Superintendent Willett stated that 125
requests for abatement had been received by his office of which
65% had been a problem with classification and 35% of which had
been a problem of the nature of billing to the wrong address.
Mr. Willett recommended appointing Building Commissioner Ron
Santos to the proposed Appeals Board along with members from the
public. Ms. Coombs asked about fees for non-taxed entities such
as the Post Office and churches. Mr. Willett stated that the
current regulation does not address these establishments. After
brief discussion, the Board voted unanimously to establish a
Public Hearing date of August 15, 1990 at 7:30 PM for adoption
of an Appeals Procedure for Abatement and other possible
amendments to the Landfill User Fee Regulation.
There being no further business before the Board,
voted unanimously to adjourn at 7:39 PM.
