BOARD OF HEALTH/BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
The Minutes of the Meeting of April 25, 1990 at 7: 30 PM. The
meeting was held in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town & County
Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. All members of the Board were
present. Chairman Grossman called the meeting to order at 7:31 PM.
Aporoval of the Minutes of March 28. 1990 at 7:30 PM. Ms. Coombs
moved approval. Seconded by Mr. Viera. So voted. Reading of the
Minutes was waived.
Aooeal of the Health Inspector's Revocation of the Disposal Works
Construction Permit for 28 and 30 Gosnold Road. continued from
March 21, 1990. Attorney for the applicant Ted Tillotson said that
this matter is in dispute with the DEP and requested that it be
continued on an open basis until resolved; Mr. Tillotson hoped to
eventually withdraw the appeal. Ms. Sevrens moved deferring the
matter to a date uncertain. Seconded by Ms. Coombs. So voted.
Mosquito Control: Recommendation on Prooosed Transfer of Funds to
State Reclamation and Mosauito Control Board and Prooosed proiects
for the Sorinq. Ms. Coombs read Mr. Willett's memo dated April 23, ,
1990 recommending that the Board not transfer $50,000 to the state
as this procedure did not seem to ease the permitting process.
Chairman Grossman said that a Town Meeting vote would be necessary
to withdraw from membership with the state. Mr. Willett suggested
waiting until the next Annual Town Meeting. Ms. Sevrens moved to
approve the recommendation to not transfer the $50,000 to the
state. Seconded by Ms. Coombs. So voted. A brief discussion
followed regarding proposed Mosquito Control Projects for the
Spring. Mr. Borchert expressed concern regarding cutting of trees
and brush to clean the ditches. The Board's consensus was to table
the matter for one week to allow Mr. Willett to address these
concerns.
Prooosed Interim Policy for Scrao Metal Disoosal. Ms. Coombs read
Mr. Willett's memo dated April 23, 1990 with the proposed policy
and an attached list of acceptable scrap metal. Mr. Borchert moved
adoption of the recommended policy. Seconded by Ms. Coombs. So
voted.
Reauest to Set Hearinq Date for Prooosed Amendment of Board of
Health Requlations 60.00 Minimum Lot Size for Unsewered Lots. Ms.
Coombs read Mr. Ray's memo recommending a hearing date of May 29,
1990 at 7:30 PM. Ms. Coombs moved to set the hearing date of May
29, 1990 at 7:30 PM in the large group instruction room at the High
School. Seconded by Mr. Borchert. So voted. Mr. Ray said the copies
of the proposed changes are available in the Health office.
Mr. Ray cautioned the public about ticks and medical waste.
There being no further business before the Board of Health/Board
i of Public Works, the Board unanimously voted to adjourn at 7:55 PM
to reopen as the Board of Selectmen.
